Easy paneer tikka recipe| Paneer recipes
If you don't have tandoor or oven, you can easily make restaurant-style tikka at home without oven and you get the same smoky flavours.
Being in France for 7 years, barbecue is now in my culture, when the sun shines I like to invite friends over to barbecue at home and have a lot of fun. Barbecue and aperitif dinatoire is a culture in France. They like barbecue very much.
I usually make types of tikka and served with coriander/mint chutney along with onion slices and lemon wedges.
Paneer tikka is the utmost favourite starter among Indians, whenever they go to a restaurant the first thing they like to order is tikka. It is a very easy recipe that you will love to make again and again.
Let's have a look How simple it is to make at home?
Recipe of Paneer tikka masala
Ingredients
For marination
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp Kashmiri Lal Mirch/ cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1 tsp gram flour/ besan
- 1 cup plain yoghurt
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp kasoori methi
- 1 tsp garam masala
- I tsp chaat masala
- Salt to taste
- 3 tbsp mustard oil ( only)
For Tikka
- 1/2 green, red ( bell pepper) chopped in square shape
- 8 paneer cubes
- 1 onion chopped in square shapes
- Baby mushrooms ( if you like)
Method
- In a medium-size bowl, add in all the dry ingredients and mix well.
- Into a bowl add in yoghurt, ginger garlic paste and mix until well combined.
- Now on a medium heat place a small pan, add 3 tbsp of mustard oil and heat it for about a minute. Mustard oil is the secret ingredient of this recipe don't skip this step.
- Combine the mustard oil into the mixture and mix well
- Add all the paneer cubes and diced vegetables until coated well with the marinade. Toss well.
- Leave aside for at least 20-30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Now, Arrange the paneer cubes along with diced vegetables in skewers.
- Then, if you have a stove that most Indian people have one in their house for making chappati, I recommend if you are making 4 -5 skewers it is the quickest way to roast tikka directly on the flame with caution and you get the same smoky flavour. How?
- Firstly switch on the flame place a grilled tray that prevents you to roast easily without burning.
- Then roast paneer and veggies until charred.
- Serve with mint chutney or spicy coriander chutney.
Other ways - Place a non-stick pan and apply little butter arrange all the paneer cubes and veggies and stir fry until roasted and golden brown then simply arrange it into the skewers.
In the oven - Use cooking spray on the grill and place the skewers for 10 minutes at 180°C on grill mode.
Electric Grill- If you have an electric grill then it's really easy to enjoy the barbeque. I have a small one that is sufficient for my family and is not very expensive that I order from Amazon.com (Electric Grill).
NOTES:
- For vegans- Use tofu, tempeh instead of Paneer.
- Use plant-based curd.
- For non-vegetarian- Add chicken, turkey, meatballs into the skewers.
