How to make the best Fig tart?

Ingredients

For the Shortcrust pastry

  1. 2 cups plain flour (extra for dusting)
  2. 2 tbsp icing sugar
  3. 75 g of butter (Room temperature)
  4. 1 medium-sized egg (beaten)
  5. 1 tsp salt

For the Chocolate ganache

  1. 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  2. 1 cup dark chocolate

For Topping

  1. Fresh figs or seasonal fruits. (According to your requirements)
  2. Glaze or honey. ( optional)

Directions

For Shortcrust Pastry
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • To make the tart pastry, combine the flour, icing sugar, and butter in a food processor and mix until the mixture resembles bread crumbs. Add the egg and blend again until it forms a dough.
  • Dust a work surface with flour and place the dough onto a sheet of plastic wrap and flatten into a 6-inch disk, then wrap it tightly and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Roll the pastry with the help of a rolling pin in a round shape on a lightly floured surface until it is slightly bigger than the tart pans.
  • Carefully transfer the round disc into the pan and press downwards.
  •  Run the rolling pin over the top of the pan so that excess dough gets cut off on the edge of the pin and it looks more professional. ( Remove edges accordingly to form a nice shape)
  • Freeze the tart shell for 30 minutes
  • Take out the pastry crust, at the time of baking, if you are worried about your pastry crust to get burn.
 Follow these two steps :
  1. Dust the baking tin and place the dough and press it with the help of your thumb, then prick the pastry base with a fork.
  2. Now place the small round piece of parchment paper and fill the baking tin with black beans and then bake for 10 minutes. ( Parchment paper prevent beans from sticking to the tart)
  3. Carefully remove the beans and bake the base for another 5 minutes until golden brown. Set aside to cool.
