"Apple crumble with oats and raspberry topping"

Hello Bakers, Happy new year to all of you, It's a festive season and everybody is having fun with their families and friends. I hope you all had a great holiday!

Today, I'm sharing the easiest crumble recipe that I had made for 'Christmas Eve'. A crumble is a dish of Irish origin that can be made with seasonal fruits like berries, apples, pear and peaches also with rhubarb. I make crumble especially when I invite a guest over and is a quick and healthy recipe.

Let's have a look, how simple it is?

Ingredients

  • 3 apples (green or red).
  • 150 g plain flour.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar/brown sugar (brown sugar recommended to have some caramelized flavour).
  • 3/4 cup cold salted butter.
  • 2 tablespoons oats.
  • 1 lemon juice (i use lemon to stop the apples turning brown).
  • Mint leaves and raspberry topping for presenting apple crumble (optional).

Instructions

  • First, you need to prepare the apples, chop the apples into 1-2 cm chunks.
  • Put the apples into a baking dish. Toss in some lemon juice and sprinkle some sugar and plain flour.
  • Place the flour and the sugar in a mixing bowl. Add the butter and oats and use your hands to mix and rub in the butter until the mixture resembles like bread crumbs. Pour this mixture evenly on top of the apple.
  • Bake the crumble at 180°C for 35 to 40 minutes or until nicely browned on top and the apples are bubbling.
  • Serve hot, with mint leaves, whipped cream, vanilla ice-cream or with raspberry topping. I prefer raspberry topping and mint leaves.

Let me know if you guys try it !! I believe your crumble will be way better than mine. 😘😘😘😘😘

Tip: Use lemon juice to stop the apples turning brown.
